Someone recently asked me how I can afford to eat healthy. Here’s what I said:
“I eat oatmeal, which is cheaper than any cereal. I eat a mix of peanuts and raisins, cheaper than any candy bar. I drink iced tea, WAY cheaper than any soda or energy drink. For protein I often use whey, which is cheaper than meat.
Not too many people realize that processed and junk foods are an unnecessary expense- and when you remove them from your diet, you can actually eat MORE food, for less money.
Here’s a great article from this months Muscle & Fitness on eating healthy on $100 a week. [Note this is for bodybuilders, most of us could get by with much less food than this].
I also read that being overweight costs the average person $1700 per year in additional health care costs- but in my humble opinion the benefits of being the one in control of your body are priceless.
Hope you find this useful, and have a safe and blessed Thanksgiving,
Michael
