This is another one of those places I hesitate to go because it sounds too good to be true. However, I am going to “go there” for those of you that are keeping an open mind. Here’s a typical conversation: “Well, I could lose weight and get in shape too, if I had all day to work out like you.” To which I reply: “I usually work 12 to 16 hours a day, so most days I take 20 or 30 minutes to work out. “
Then the conversation goes two ways: The person closes their mind and changes the subject [because they want to keep telling themselves they have an excuse to not lose weight] or the light bulb goees off and they say “Tell me more.”
Here’s how I lose weight- and stay in shape at over 50- in only a few minutes a day:
1: I let food do 95% of the work for me. I wish there were some special secret healthy diet tips I could give you. But it’s all common sense. I eat the natural foods that I like. [Natural foods meaning food that doesn't come out of a factory.] That’s it. See how to make losing weight and getting in shape easy on yourself? The reality of the matter is your body was designed to run on natural food. The more you eat the better it will run. It’s fighting a weight loss battle with yourself by eating processes foods that makes getting fit hard.
2: I do the exercises that I like, and I make them count. As I’ve mentioned many times when I speak about physical fitness, I don’t like running all that much. Some people are just born joggers or runners, I just could never learn to like it. So instead of fighting myself, I take the easy way out [for me] and do a 20 minute cardio exercise session 3 times a week. [I do interval training so my I get my heart rate up five times during my cardio workout.] The other three days a week I do some resistance training. Same thing, I just do some weight lifting or body weight exercises that I like.
Losing weight and getting in shape at 50- or any age- can be incredibly simple. It’s buying weight loss shortcuts that makes it hard. Your body wants to be lean, fit, and healthy. You just need to give it a little help and it will do the weight loss work for you. Just remember, it does not matter what natural foods you eat, and it does not matter what you do for activity. All that matters is you are doing what works in reality, and you find the foods and exercises that you like so you can make fitness a simple and easy part of your everyday life.
When you do nothing more than line up your dailty choices and actions, you will transform your body and life in ways you never imagined.
