If you’ve been struggling here [like I did for 30 years] you’re going to want to read this, because what I’m going to share with you will be the difference between easy success and slow plodding failure.
First, wouldn’t you agree that products and information that promise to transform our bodies are everywhere?
Television, radio, and the Internet are saturated with ads for herbs, pills, diets, and weight loss programs.
Which begs the question:
With the MASSIVE resources we have, why are 2 out of 3 Americans overweight or obese- and why do 95% of people fail at a physical transformation?
Because advertising leads us to believe products are the answer, when the only answer is ourselves.
About a third of what’s pitched is useless scams; HGC, Acai berry, Colon cleanses, Cookies, Juices, Fat Burning Belts- you name it.
Another third of the pitches are “mainstream solutions” such as Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Nutri Systems, and so on.
The last third is general [and useful] knowledge about legitimate diets and exercise routines.
Let’s review.
Scams can’t work because, well, they’re scams. How the companies that sell scams stay in business [and how the people that run them sleep at night] is a discussion for another day.
“Mainstream” diet and weight loss plans can work, but the facts show the results are usually temporary because a “tool” [pre-packaged food] is creating a calorie deficit for you, and when you stop buying the tool, you lose the calorie deficit.
That leaves us with “legitimate” diet and exercise information [actually healthy diets and workout routines].
Even when you take out the scams and temporary solutions, and use legitimate information, why is the success rate so horribly low?
Because only a very small percentage of the information out there focuses on the true crux of the issue:
How to change your unhealthy choices to healthy ones, which is the only thing that will EVER work.
Let me illustrate what I mean, by sharing my most two effective fat loss tips:
1: I do 20 minutes of interval training first thing in the morning with nothing to eat except 25 grams of whey protein. Then I avoid sitting down for about an hour, then I have a protein only breakfast.
2: The rest of the day I’ll eat five or six more meals of natural food [with no carbohydrates past 6 pm].
Right here is where we separate success from failure…
Because as useful as these tips may be, information is just the beginning.
Regardless of the diet you go on… regardless of what exercises you do… regardless of how many healthy food “facts” you know…
All the knowledge and solutions in the world are useless without the ability to put them into action.
Why doesn’t anyone in the “legitimate” information business just come out and tell you this?
Because it’s easier to sell you on a “specific” solution.
In other words, it’s easier to sell a book that says “50 fat burning secrets” than it is to sell one that says “Change your unhealthy choices to healthy ones.”
Again, while the “50 Secrets” might actually be useful, they’re not going to do you one bit of good unless you develop the ability to make them part of your daily life.
You can’t blame the marketers so much, it’s human nature. We want “solutions” that sound clear and definitive.
Unfortunately, it’s not the diet or exercises that are going to change us, only the determination to change, can change us.
The truth is, change is unique to each of us. Since we’re all different, the path is different.
Some people can change in a day, for others it takes months, some never do it.
For example, it took me three months to give up Pepsi. There’s no guide book on how to do that. Basically I had to keep trying ways to break that “addiction” until I found something that worked for me.
Think about giving up smoking, drinking, gambling, or drugs- is there a “one size fits all” solution to these?
Or does everyone face their hurdles in a way that’s unique to them?
[Although junk food isn’t as destructive as say, cocaine, the principle is exactly the same when it comes to giving up what isn’t in the best interest of your health.]
The bottom line is whatever is stopping you from eating a healthy diet and getting regular activity is unique to you- and the solution will be as well.
Here’s the easiest way to begin.
FOCUS on the crux of the issue:
Keep trying to change what you’re routinely giving your body until most of the time you’re giving it what it desperately WANTS AND NEEDS:
Water, natural food, and challenging physical activity.
How do you do that without making life a living hell in the process?
By not trying to force yourself to do what someone else thinks you should be doing, but instead, eating the natural foods you like and doing physical activities you enjoy.
How do you do that in a world that relentlessly pressures you to do the opposite?
You draw a line in the sand, and refuse to be “played” by people that care more about your money than your health.
And you keep at it until whatever “hooks” they have in you are removed.
That’s when your body will heal and transform itself on “auto pilot.”
It can become that simple with nothing more than a little persistence.
Why does focusing on the only thing that will EVER work- treating your body the way it was designed and created to be treated- not only transform your body, but your life and future as well?
Because now you’re seeing choices in life “as they are.” And when you can control choices this powerful and relentlessly exploited, you can do anything else you put your mind to.
That’s why a “new” body means not only vibrant health, but incredible clarity and true personal freedom.
To your health, success, may God bless, and seize the day.
Michael
